Steps to Configure the Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard for Mac OS X

Logitech introduced innovative, sexy and stylish diNovo Edge keyboard. The keyboard is developed aiming the customers well versed with Windows Operating System (OS). It has not provided any support for use with either Mac OS or Linux OS. This article is aimed providing tips for the users to use diNovo edge keyboard with Mac OS. The features of diNovo keyboard are touch sensitive volume control, integrated mini track pad, brushed aluminum palm rests, glossy black finish and thin profile. The logitech diNovo keyboard is provided with charging unit, CDROM, USB Bluetooth adaptor, diNovo Edge Keyboard, warranty card, soft buffing cloth and instructions.
You just need a keyboard with the charging unit for Mac OS. Make sure that the keyboard is charged fully for the first time. Disconnect the keyboard from the charger and put the power switch in ON position. An icon intended for power indication on the top right corner of the keyboard glows in orange color. Put the keyboard on the desk and click on connect button. You can see a blinking green Bluetooth indicator on the front.
Enable Bluetooth on your Mac OS. Go to system preferences, Blue tooth and choose new device option. Follow the steps to install the keyboard. Choose keyboard as the device type for installing keyboard. The setup utility searches for the keyboard and detects the Logitech diNovo Edge. A message appears “unable to identify the keyboard and the keyboard could not be used until successful detection”. The possible reason for this message is that the keyboard is made for Windows OS. Press on Continue and select ANSI from the options such as JIS, ISO and ANSI. The setup completes the pairing process on receiving the input parameters. The keyboard and the Bluetooth receiver would be paired after restarting the system.
This keyboard is made for Windows OS, so the CMD and option keys are interchanged in the Mac OS. Reconfigure the windows default keys with the help of DoubleCommand System Preference utility, an open source utility.
You would be able to use the keyboard as any other Apple keyboard once the pairing process is over. The buttons on the left side of the keyboard may not function properly. However, the sleep button volume control and trackpad works in a normal manner. Enjoy using the nice Logitech diNovo keypad with Mac OS.
The keyboard offers limited functionality under the Mac OS because no drivers are officially provided by Logitech. Its drawbacks include absence of numeric keypad, bigger charging unit and no official support for drivers. The keyboard is priced higher at US$200. Amazon offers a discount of US$30 on diNovo keyboard.
